LINE UP

John Cavaliere (vocals), Steve Janevski (guitar), Hanny Mohamed (guitar), Joe Fata (bass), Pavel Konvalinka (drums)

Melbourne's BLACK MAJESTY evolved from two acts in succession- KYMERA and ARKAYA. Featuring vocalist John Gio, CYCLONE TRACY guitarist Steve Janevski and AMETHYST drummer Vestra ARKAYA, for a brief spell, also had erstwhile PEGAZUS frontman Danny Cecati as their lead vocalist. Corey Betts, also bassist with PEGAZUS, would also serve a term with ARKAYA.

The ties between PEGAZUS and ARKAYA were strengthened when it was learned that ARKAYA guitarist Hanny Mohamed had taken the bass position vacancy in PEGAZUS, coincidentally just as Betts short lived tenure with ARKAYA had come to an end. Mohamed would maintain a foot in both camps.

The mid 2002 line-up of ARKAYA would announce a name switch to BLACK MAJESTY and the recording of a projected debut album 'Sands Of Time'. A promotion three track EP emerged beforehand which featured former PEGAZUS singer Danny Cecati duetting with vocalist John Cavaliere on the track 'Guardian'. The band at this stage comprised Cavaliere, guitarists Steve Janevski and Hanny Mohamed, bass player Joe Fata and former KRYPTOR and LEPROCIDE drummer Pavel Konvalinka.

The band, pulling in former CRYPTAL DARKNESS man Mark Kelson on bass, signed a long term deal with the German Limb Music Products label in early 2003. The album 'Sands Of Time' emerged in September. Mohamed resigned his position in PEGAZUS that December in order to priotise BLACK MAJESTY. During May of 2004 the band pulled in the services of ABRAMELIN and BLOOD DUSTER credited drummer Euan Hariott for live dates in July when regular skinsman Pavel Konvalinka was forced to return to the Czech Republic for family reasons. Meantime, ex-bass man Joe Vata joined PEGAZUS in July.

BLACK MAJESTY selected IRON SAVIOR's Pete Sielck as producer for their next album 'Silent Company', recorded at the guitarist's own Powerhouse Studios in Germany. The album included a cover of a well known Australian traditional song, 'Six Ribbons', a hit for JON ENGLISH in 1978. Japanese editions, on the Stay Gold label, added bonus tracks in the form of 'Chasing Time', an acoustic rendition of 'Guardian' and a video clip for 'Silent Company'. European tour work in July saw an appearance at the an open air festival in Plzen, Czech Republic as support to HAMMERFALL and EDGUY.

BLACK MAJESTY commenced recording their third album, entitled 'Tomorrowland', at Palm Studios in Melbourne during January 2007. Release is set for 1st June.
