Progressive Metal band MIND'S EYE date back to the 1992 formation of AFTERGLOW by Stockholm based musicians bass player Johan Niemann, also known for his high profile work with THERION, and Daniel Flores on drums. This pair soon united with guitarist Fredrik Grünberger and, a year later, singer German Pascual to cut the 'Afterglow' album of 1994. By 1996 the band was without a deal and Pascual opted out. Subsequent demo recordings utilised the services of CANDLEMASS veteran Thomas Vikström and Robert Forse of HEADS OR TALES.
Finally Johan Persson was incorporated into the band, newly named as MIND'S EYE after discovery of the German Death Metal act AFTERGLOW. Signing to the American Sensory label the band cut the 1997 album 'Into The Unknown'. However, soon after release the band lost the services of Persson and Andreas Novak, who onstage experience performing the character role of 'Judas' in the 'Jesus Christ Superstar' stage musical, subsequently took the role, appearing on the album '"… Waiting For The Tide'. This record emerged on the band's own Round record label. Despite favourable response Johan Niemann decided to quit in order to concentrate on his priority act THERION.
During September of 2000 the second MIND'S EYE album was re-released across Europe by the MNW group. The band reaped further exposure with laudatory reviews heaped upon their version of QUEENSRYCHE's 'I Will Remember' included on the tribute album 'Warning: Mind’s Of Raging Empires'. In early 2001 Johan Niemann was re-inducted back into the fold but maintained his position within THERION. Other outside activity found drummer Danny Flores sessioning on BENNY JANSSON's solo album. The band completed work on the album 'A Work Of Art' in December of that year, signing the product over to the German Rising Sun label.
Daniel Flores subsequently commenced on a project dubbed FARO in league with AVALON singer Chitral Chity Somapala for a 2003 album 'Dawn Of Forever'. However, this venture floundered. Subsequently both Niemann and Flores formed up part of the melodic Metal TEARS OF ANGER band. Flores also guested on ARABESQUE guitarist JOOP WALTERS 2004 solo album 'Speed, Traffic And Guitar-Accidents' and, together with Andreas Novak, pulled together a studio band to cut a version of 'Wild Frontier' for the GARY MOORE tribute album 'Give Us Moore'. Flores manned the drum kit for Itaian act SECRET SPHERE's 'Heart & Anger' album in January 2005.
MIND'S EYE returned to the studio in May to craft a new album 'Walking With H2O' for the Finnish Lion Music label, completing this task in August. Japanese copies added a bonus exclusive track, a cover of PRINCE's 'Sign O' The Times'. Lion Music also re-issued both 'Waiting For The Tide' and 'A Work Of Art' with extra tracks.
In 2005 Daniel Flores engaged in recordings for side act 7 DAYS, this venture comprising HARMONY guitarist Markus Sigfridsson, ex-CANDLEMASS, TALK OF THE TOWN and BRAZEN ABBOTT singer Thomas Vikström alongside DIVINEFIRE, STORMWIND, WISDOM CALL, SEVENTH SIGN, BEYOND SILENCE, NARNIA and DOJJORNA bassist Andreas Olsson.
MIND'S EYE returned in January 2006 with 'Walking on H2O'. That same year Andreas Novak put down guest vocals on the tracks 'Save Me', 'Second Comings' and 'Misery' featured on the DEACON STREET 'II' album. Maintaining a rapid momentum, MIND'S EYE set to work on another album, entitled 'A Gentleman's Hurricane', at Sound Vs. Science studio that same summer. The album sessions were wrapped up in February 2007. The Japanese release the album 'A Gentleman's Hurricane', on August 1st through Mellow Music, featured bonus track 'Those Who Fear' and the DVD 'The making of A Gentleman's Hurricane'.
