Burning Star Records has really amazed me with the great bands its people have signed and the professional work they have done on the promo CD’s. This is one of the best ’dressings’ I have seen a promo album having. Anyway, the fact is that Burning Star has given me the chance to review one more really good band and spend approximately 48 minutes in a really pleasant way.
The Italian metallers SUBLIMINAL FEAR were formed back in 2001 by vocalist Carmine, bassist Alessio and drummer Ivano. Various members entered, as well as left the band, and the band finally managed to reach its current line up form in 2006. Their 2005 demo CD and the fact that they have shared the stage with acts like NECRODEATH, HIGHLORD and DGM made Burning Star offer them a contract.
The contract the band signed with the Greek label, is the one that led them to the release of their debut album "Uncoloured World Dying", an album full of shredding guitars, great drumming and melodic brutality! SUBLIMINAL FEAR belong to the Metalcore subgenre, but they proudly manage to stand out of the pile of common shit with their talent. The band has managed to mix its European and US influences, offering you a nice mixture of AT THE GATES, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, SOILWORK and some slight NEVERMORE (!) touches, that add a more NWOAHM feeling to the music.
The production is unbelievable, covering the band’s music with a solid, heavy and crystal clear sound that is definitely something that the band didn’t even dream to have in its debut album. The great artwork has been done by the well known Nerve Design, which is responsible for bands like THRESHOLD, BLINDED COLONY and NILE.
If you are looking for a Metalcore release that will not make you cry for the money you spend on it, I think that "Uncoloured World Dying" is one of the best choices you have. The Italian metallers have produced a really good mix of melody and brutality and I believe that they deserve your attention.
