Örebro's Grindcore combo COLDWORKER comprise members of such bands as NASUM, RELENTLESS, CARNAL GRIEF, RUIN and PHOBOS. NECRONY and NASUM drummer Anders Jakobson formulated the project in January 2006, first recruiting INSIDIOUS, RUIN and CHAIN OF HATE guitar player Anders Bertilsson and RELENTLESS bass player Oskar Pålsson. André Alvinzi of CARNAL GRIEF enrolled as second guitarist in March with ex-PHOBOS man Joel Fornbrant installed as frontman the following month. A debut album, 'The Contaminated Void', was self-produced during 2006 and mixed by EDGE OF SANITY's Dan Swanö. Japanese editions added a cover version of PANTERA's 'Far Beyond Driven'. In July COLDWORKER announced signature to Relapse Records. A mnanufacturing fault would result in an inadvertant collectable, as the artwork for the CD variant, different to the vinyl version, was printed with inked silhouettes on frosted vellum instead of the intended clear. 2000 copies were released in this form.
The group toured Scandinavia in November, forming up the 'Close Up made me do it' tour alongside ARCH ENEMY and PATH OF NO RETURN.
The band replaced André Alvinzi with INSIDIOUS and RUIN's Daniel Schröder in January 2007. COLDWORKER then announced they were to team up with MISERY INDEX, NECROPHAGIST and BURNING SKIES for a European tour beginning in February. The band re-entered the studio to craft fresh material in December.
