For years, the ARCHIVE series has been a defining theme among Neil Young fans, and in part, the delay in the work's emergence is due to the fact that the technology needed to implement Young's ideas was invented had to become. But now the time has come and there is an outlook on what music could become in the future. Jim DeRogatis of the Chicago Sun-Times had the opportunity to hear and see the archives at the South X Southwest conference, and wrote, "Not only is it overwhelming, it may be a trailblazer to what's happening in both indie stores as will be sold in the big chains in the post-CD era. " Greg Kot of the Chicago Tribune said: "The Archives are nothing short of revolutionary in terms of how an artist's back catalog will be presented in the future."

An interactive timeline allows Youngs' entire life to be tracked step by step, as well as unpublished memorabilia, handwritten lyrics, letters and other historical documents. No other collection has yet allowed such a detailed and comprehensive view of an artist's development, both in terms of his music and any other events that shaped him and his songs. Overall, a groundbreaking audio biography about Neil Young.

The Blu-Ray and DVD editions appear in a sturdy box that contains a 236-page color and bound booklet that comes with additional archive material, such as tape directories and detailed descriptions of music and artwork, a poster, Single covers for all 10 discs and more.

The Neil Young Archives is an ongoing series that will accompany the entire career of one of the most creative and successful rock artists of the years. The process is unique so far, and further technical developments will undoubtedly find its way into the following archive parts. It is the technical heart and soul of all that Neil Young has created so far.
