Jethro Tull - Aqualung - 40th Anniversary Collector's Edition (2011) DVD9 NTSC
---------------------------------------------------------------------
The eternally young prog / folk rockers Jethro Tull have re-recorded their most legendary full-length album as a live disc. The proceeds go to homeless initiatives.
With Aqualung the British stormed the top ten in the USA and America in 1971 and finally established themselves as one of the most important progressive rock bands of all time. Almost 35 years later, Ian Anderson, Martin Barre and their sometimes much younger fellow musicians from the current Tull line-up took to the stage to perform classics such as "Aqualung", "Cross-eyed Mary", "Mother Goose", "My God "and" Locomotive Breath "in the original order. The new versions differ noticeably from the studio versions, but do not miss anything of the original, intense magic of the compositions. The band shines with perfect timing and excellent playing feeling, Barre is still one of the most versatile guitarists in the rock field, and Ian Anderson's distinctive voice can melt icebergs even after various vocal cord operations - not to mention his breathtaking flute playing. As a bonus, Aqualung Live also contains some entertaining interview sequences in which Anderson and others talks about groundbreaking rock riffs, the recording sessions of the original album and problems with religious fanatics.
